Let’s get planning—welcome to your 2 022-2023 Program Guide ! Beyond the events in this guide, you can schedule your own fun and try out new activities at times that are convenient for you! Check out the Plan Your Own Activities list and start planning new adventures today. This list is your source for GSOSW program partners who offer opportunities designed just for Girl Scouts! Not sure how it works? It’s easy! Find an activity you like from the list and use the information provided to connect with the Girl Scout program partner. And just like that, you are paddling the Vancouver Lake beneath sunny skies, taking fun piano lessons or exploring Mount St. Helens lava dome eruptions. Start planning today! Plan Your Own Activities Navigating Fall Events The event listings starting on Page 20 are organized by date. When you find activities that are just right for you, visit the Events page to register and find more detailed information. Special icons in this guide indicate where you can spend your program credits ( ), work on a badge or fun patch ( ), or bring a friend who is not currently a Girl Scout ( ). This is where the event title and location can be found. Additional location details shared upon registration or request. Learn about this event and whether it’s something you would like to do! Details about supplies, ratio, adult registration and more can be found online. The date and cost of the event are listed here. Fall into Art Adventure! Hispanic Heritage Month September 15 - October 15 You can celebrate Native American Heritage Month by recognizing the histories, cultures, and contributions of the Native American communities that were the first inhabitants in the United States. Take this opportunity to learn more about the cultures of the Indian Nations in your state and across the country. You’ll make new discoveries and have tons of fun while earning your patch! Native American Heritage Month November 1-30 Multicultural Community Celebration Fun Patch Program The Girl Scout Multicultural Community Celebration fun patch program celebrates the countless contributions that diverse communities have made and continue to make in the United States. Girl Scouts of all grade levels and backgrounds are encouraged to learn, connect and celebrate! Learn more about the different celebrations and patches you can earn on the following pages. Native American & proudFebruary is Black History Month, where we honor the incredible contributions that Black and African American communities have made throughout U.S. history—from civil rights leaders to artists, politicians to inventors. Take this opportunity to learn more about the community’s central role in U.S. history and the world. You’ll make new discoveries and have tons of fun while earning your patch! Black History Month February 1-28 Celebrate Black History Month! The Girl Scout Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month Fun Patch is designed for Girl Scouts of all levels and their leaders, to celebrate the cultural richness of all people in the U.S. whose ancestors came from the Pacific Islands or the Asian diaspora, and to acknowledge the many contributions of the AAPI community to our nation. Girls and leaders have plenty of activities to choose from to earn this fun patch, and we encourage girls from all ethnic backgrounds to participate. Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month May 1-31 Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month The Girl Scout LGBTQ+ Pride Month Celebration Fun Patch is designed for Girl Scouts of all levels and their leaders to honor LGBTQ+ history, to celebrate the diverse cultures and identities of LGBTQ+ people, and to acknowledge the many contributions that the LGBTQ+ community has made and continues to make across our nation. Girls and leaders have plenty of activities to choose from to earn this fun patch, and we encourage girls of all identities to participate. How can I make this better? This year, let your curiosity guide you as you uncover the STEM in your life with Girl Scouts. ཎ Celebrate STEM Month this November! Attend STEM Day to get a taste of some cool STEM opportunities in your local community. ཎ Challenge yourself to explore the STEM in your life each month by taking on the NEW STEM Challenge patch program! ཎ Celebrate Pi Day on March 14. ཎ Discover the STEM in sewing with the Science of Sewing patch program! ཎ Explore our universe with a space science adventure. Join the Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington Astronomy Club or earn your Space Science badge. ཎ Challenge your creative problem solving skills by engaging in an engineering activity. This could be earning a badge, completing a Journey, or participating in an event. ཎ Participate in a council-sponsored STEM event found in the seasonal Program Guide supplements or on the Events page.
